Another gem from the birthplace of coffee and the world-famous Yirgacheffe region. Kochere is a washing station in the Gedeo Zone. Established in 2008, Kochere employs 30 permanent staff. During peak harvest that grows to 350 temporary employees. Yirgacheffe is one of the prominent trademarked regions of Ethiopia. Renowned for it’s floral, citrus armoatics and elegant body. The coffee can have a startling similarity to Earl Grey tea. Traceability in Ethiopia is tricky as single estates are rare. They sell most coffee through the Ethiopian Coffee Exchange. Often we can only trace the coffee back to a specific cooperative or washing station.
